With all other sealers, you need to seal your stone every six months to a year. Even when your surfaces have been sealed, over-the-counter sealers will allow stains to penetrate, especially acidic juices, alcohol, vinegar and oils. (Flooring sealed with Granite Shield is under warranty for 10 years, 5 years at 100%.)
It is important for you to look at the warranty of each sealer. Most sealers only slow down the staining process. They do not actually protect the stone from staining, and do not claim to prevent etching at all.
Yes! If your countertop is glossy, Granite Shield increases the shine on your countertop considerably.
No. When Granite Shield is used on matte or honed finishes, the surface stays matte or honed. Granite Shield will only increase shine on surfaces that are intended to be shiny.
Granite Shield noticeably decreases the natural pits and fissures in stone, but will not fill in the crevices.
Yes. In addition to protecting the stone, Granite Shield enhances the look of your dark stones considerably. Maintenance becomes simple. Cleaning products such as Windex with ammonia can be used to sanitize the surface and leave it sparkling!
Yes, Granite Shield can be applied to quartz. It is safe for the stone and leaves its color enhanced and beautiful and the surface smoother. Though it is not typical to apply sealers to Quartz products, Granite Shield is a different sealing process.

There is no product on the market that can make calcite containing stones like marble or travertine “etch-proof”. However, Granite Shield will reduce the etching on your calcite containing stones such as marble and travertine up to 80%. Though we are able to greatly reduce etching, acidic juices, alcohol and vinegar should not be left unattended on the surface of your calcite containing stone.
No. The Granite Shield process leaves granite “etch-proof”. This is included in the LIFETIME WARRANTY. Since Absolute Black and Blue Bahia contain calcite, they can still be etched.
Yes. Granite Shield can be applied to any surface outdoors. This sealer is wonderful for outdoor barbeques and entertaining areas. It makes an excellent sealer for outdoor fireplaces since it is flame proof.
